A new line of multi-function printers and scanners from Canon U.S.A., Inc., provider of digital imaging products, is the most recent development. On August 26, Canon unveiled five new printers in its imageCLASS line that can be implemented in the office to increase productivity.
Industry analyst Keenan Thomson of GAP Intelligence told Buyers Laboratory that within the "increasingly competitive market … small office customers have come to expect robust connectivity options and cost saving functionality at an affordable price." The new printers may provide the answer, as they feature "faster output speeds, cost-saving duplex functionality, and mobile print and scan capabilities," he continued.
The printers also include an ID Card Copy mode, useful for dentists or physicians to copy a client's ID card as quickly as possible.
The five different models, which have some overlapping and some unique features, all interface with the free app Canon Mobile Printing. The app allows Android and Apple users to send projects to the printer from their smartphone or tablet remotely. This utility benefits employees who work from home or are frequently out of the office.
Additionally, the Canon Mobile Scanning for Business app integrates with three of the models to allow the user to scan documents from the multi-function printer directly into his or her smartphone or tablet. This detail accommodates the traveling business person who may need to easily access important papers while out of town.
Scanning made simple
MarketWatch reported on Canon's release of the latest Scan-tini Mobile Document Scanner, a lean, portable scanner beneficial for use around the office and during business trips. The scanner allows professionals to upload documents to their Windows or Mac computer, smartphone or tablet without needing to download any software. It should be a welcome development whether one commonly travels to see clients or works from an office environment, like accountants, financial advisors, physician office staff and realtors. The Scan-tini also operates wirelessly, ideal for desk-to-desk use in the office.
